Discover the link between Green Lipped Mussel and Cancer Treatment

Article by Nicos Stylianou

It’s almost unbelievable, but is it true? Does the green lipped mussel cancer treatment really work? Is there really a link between green lipped mussels and cancer?
Well, this type of shellfish is found in the oceans of the coast of New Zealand. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is large mussel species, sometimes measuring nearly a foot across in diameter, and also in the fact that while the shell of the mussel is brown in color, the edge, or its lip has an interesting and rather beautiful green tinge.
The link between green mussel and good health was first observed when researchers noticed that the Maori people of New Zealand had very little problems with arthritis, or joint pains and injuries, and these Maori people subsisted on a diet of this type of mussels.
Therefore researchers arrived at the obvious conclusion that the arthritis or the lack thereof among the Maori people was a direct result of the fact that mussels are such a big part of their diet.
Over the years, an increasing number of studies has shed more light on a number of links between green lipped mussels on the one hand and the prevention and cure of various ailments on the other.

Vitamin ABCs: Pomegranates Aren’t Just for Stained Fingers Anymore

Article by Gloria MacTaggart.

Do you remember eating pomegranates as a kid? It was quite an adventure, and it could last for hours — dissecting it bit by bit to get at each one of those crunchy little morsels; stains on our fingers that seemed to last for days. I doubt many of us realized back then that this tasty fruit actually had nutritional value. It was just fun! So how did it become the raw material for healthful drinks and supplements in natural food stores across the U.S.? Once again, Western scientists have stumbled upon an ancient Eastern secret. Find out what the pomegranate can do for you.

Originating in Persia, cultivation of the pomegranate began its slow migration to the West. While the U.S.A. was still a colony — Thomas Jefferson planted pomegranates in Monticello in 1771 — it found its way to the new world. In the East, this delicious fruit is a symbol of life, fertility and regeneration, and the symbolism was not lost on the West. In fact, the British Medical Association, the Royal College of Physicians, the Royal College of Midwives and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists all feature the pomegranate in their coat of arms.

Does Green Tea Offer The Prescription For Beating Cancer?

Article by Marcus Stout

With early detection, cancer is no longer an automatic death sentence. However, an initial diagnosis still brings with it a host of questions: What is the best course of treatment? Are conventional approaches best? Or are non-traditional therapies preferable–particularly if the cancer does not seem to respond to chemotherapy and radiation.

In recent years, a great deal of emphasis has been placed on unconventional therapies for cancer. For instance, in an article in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, Elizabeth Kaegi of the Task Force on Alternative Therapies of the Canadian Breast Cancer Research Initiative discussed the fact that cancer patients are trying a number of intriguing therapies, including Essiac, Iscador, hydrazine sulfate, vitamins A,C, and E, and 714-X. But perhaps one of the most popular therapies that has been tried is green tea. In fact, go to your local convenience store and you may find jug after jug of green tea in assorted flavors. Still, you may be wondering what makes green tea so special–and if it really can help to combat cancer.

Green Tea–The Basics:

Green tea is produced by steaming or frying the leaves of the shrub known as Camellia sinensis. The leaves, which are not fermented, are then dried. For 5,000 years, families in China and Japan have hailed green tea as a valuable stimulant and an effective remedy for stomach ailments. You can even purchase green tea in capsule form now, although the actual medicinal benefits from such capsules have yet to be established.

Is Spiritual Healing For Real?

Article by Stephen Lau

Spiritual healing is rejuvenation of the body and mind through the intelligent or immaterial part of a human being – spirituality. Many people think of healing only in terms of the physical. A broken bone is only a “physical” illness that requires six to twelve seeks for healing the fractured bone. But human illness may often involve more than just the physical level: it may involve the emotions, the mind, and even the soul.

Accordingly, spiritual healing may play a role in the recovery. Indeed, spiritual healing has more to do with the mind or the soul than just the physical body. Spiritual healing is recovery from a disease or disorder of a more complex nature.

All illness and even death result from cumulative stress of the physical, emotional, and mental aspects of an individual. Cumulative stress fosters negative emotions and behavior with devastating and long-lasting effects on the overall health and wellness of an individual.

Fortunately, spirituality may help an individual overcome this negativity, and thereby instrumental in relieving the symptoms of an illness. For example, a patient suffering from cancer, which is a traumatic experience, may find solace through spirituality during the cancer treatment, such as chemotherapy or surgery.
